File 4 of 4. Smith’s one-woman show was broadcast on PBS’ American Playhouse in 1993. It’s sadly out of print for home use (libraries can contact Monterey Media), but here’s a copy of the show’s first half from a 15-year-old videotape recorded from TV. It tells the story of racial conflict in a Brooklyn neighborhood that resulted in one dead black boy and one dead Jewish man. Powerful stuff. Deavere is brilliant.

it’s sad to say, but is there some form of racial conflict or race war heading to america?

i am a conservative libertarian, and i do believe something needs to be done on the matter of illegal immigration. that is my only opinion on the matter, so i’m not going to pretend like i know what should be done.
i don’t want to offend anyone of any political ideology or ethnicity, but it seems like tensions are rising rapidly in the southwest region.
some of my state leaders (mo), pretty much copied and pasted the arizona law and are going to try to pass it soon.
i have not read the immigration reform bill of az., so personally i have no opinion of it as of yet. but this is not really a question about the bill, but do you think something like this may happen with the tension rising like this?

things like this have happened before. like the Plan of San Diego (please research it if you have not heard of it). that was no major conflict though.

i know it is early, but do you think compromise and reason will ensue and these tensions will die down a little bit, or will it get worse from this point on?

when critisizing an opposing ideology, please don’t judge to harshly and don’t attack each other please.

if you have read the immigration reform bill in arizona, what do you think of it?

Even with the hurriedly scribbled changes to the law, don’t be fooled. This measure requires civilian police to ferret out those in the country illegally, setting up a state where proof of citizenship is required at all times for those who look, speak or act as if they have a family tree with roots in Mexico, Central America, South America, Cuba or even Spain.

White Canadians skirting the immigration law have little or nothing to fret. But it still means that if you’re in a car pulled over for having a tail light out, and children or anyone else inside the car cannot prove they are U.S. citizens, the law requires that they be confiscated by police and jailed. Clearly, those police with level heads won’t regularly be dragging Hispanic children out of cars, but there isn’t a scrap of doubt that there will be plenty of police doing just that.

The intent of the law is as clear today as it was when it was first signed. State officials believe they have created legislation allowing civilian police to round up illegal immigrants and scare away others as well as future prospects, and they’re willing to step all over the rights of every Hispanic citizen in the state to do it.

Right after the new law came out a couple of unrelated guys took out ads in Craigslist basically declaring "open season" on raping, robbing and beating illegals — since they will now be too afraid to go to the law for protection.

So you can see if you think about it that the new law can leave openings for huge civil rights violations.

Racial Conflict help?

On St. Patricks day, I often go to parades with my dad, who is irish, I’m half black and irish. Since I look black everyone at the parades look at me like i’m not supposed to be there.

Well, then they are small-minded people; and you’ll have to forgive them for their ignorance and small minded-ness..I am African-American, and dear, you’re going to have to learn to accept the reality of being a person of color living on this planet. Look at all the struggles African-Americans have gone through and are still going through. There has been a lot of pain and suffering. But always remember this: "Black is Beautiful", and you should be proud of who you are. Be proud to be a child of God, and be proud to be a descendant of some of the most strongest people on the planet–the African slaves. Dont walk around with you head bowed down–and dont apologize for being black & biracial. Those same people who are looking at you like that–will spend tons of money this summer to get your natural bronze skin-color, and will pay a plastic surgoen to get your lips and hips.

New Film ‘Machete’ evokes race war

Director Robert Rodriguez’ new film ‘Machete’ has created controversy after a promotional trailer released online makes provoking comments about Arizona– referring to its new immigration laws– before depicted a machete-wielding vigilante who leads an uprising and massacre against Texas authorities. The filmmakers called it a ‘special’ Cinco de Mayo message to Arizona, inviting viewers into a violent on-screen race war with red-saturated 70s exploitation violence and endless killing.

Alex Jones explains how the unsettling film, currently in production here in Austin, Texas, had upset two of its crew members, both of whom happened to be hispanic, enough to contact him about its fiery message. Though they could not give details due to their contractual agreements, the industry insiders were concerned that the film had gone too far, voicing their fears that it could cause a cultural backlash and do harm to the otherwise positive image of the hispanic community.

Racial strife is often exacerbated unnecessarily by globalists forces who, though seeking to integrate North America regionally, divide & conquer the population by playing upon ethnic tensions. For a violent film to use such a backdrop to glorify and potentially incite violent attacks on white Americans over the immigration issue is very dangerous, and Alex urges the film’s director to carefully consider the impact such an extreme statement could have. Though the movie screen is an escapist dimension where sex & violence are commonplace, ‘Machete’ ties it into a racially motivated issue spurned by anti-illegal immigration rhetoric.

The trailer insinuates that the film’s lead is hired to assassinate a Texas senator rallying so hard against illegal immigrants that he calls their very presence on United States soil “terrorism.” However, ‘Machete’ realizes he’s been betrayed, and instead set-up as a patsy for a failed-assassination attempt to be blamed on what is termed crudely by the film’s villains to be “Mexicans” and “cucarachas.” From there, he develops a taste for revenge and initiates an out-and-out killing spree, recruiting an angry mob along the way, whose leader decries “We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us” in downtown Austin. The trailer shows a crowd all holding up machetes in preparation for battle. As the film is not scheduled for release until September, we cannot say whether the film will be as violent and over-the-top as the trailer implies, but if the wary crew members are any indication, this film could be an unwanted wedge of racial anger that no one wants unleashed.

Curiously, FOX, who is ‘Machete’s’ distributor, blasted the film in a May 6 articled entitled, “Violent movie declares war on Arizona for immigration law.” However, the article was pulled and deep-sixed. The URL pulled up a ‘page not found.’ Talking Points Memo blasts the fact in their article, “Fox News Scrubs Article Criticizing Fox’ Robert Rodriguez Film “Machete” as “Racist” & Declaring “War on Arizona.” Clearly, Rupert Murdoch & co. are playing both sides of a potentially explosive cultural-political issue. FOX won a ‘bidding war’ for the film, which grew out of a parody trailer spliced into the 70s-cult throwback “Grindhouse,” a double-header release featuring works by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino, both notable for their excessive and stylistic violence.

It has been established that the Ford Foundation and other top organizations have funded and influence groups like Mecha and La Raza. Border enforcement is lax because big businesses take advantage of the low wage labor; meanwhile, the same NAFTA, WTO and CAFTA visionaries ship jobs overseas and gut the industrial base in America. The clash of cultures is then pressured further by fiery rhetoric, perceived job opportunities, language barriers and political issues. For ‘Machete’ to call for such violence and glorify killings in relation to such a sensitive political topic is potentially criminal if it caused people to act out in real life.

So what of the role of cinema and television cultural products in the larger picture of shaping the opinions and habits of our increasingly naive and shallow population? One need only read between the lines, flip through the channels in a critically-evaluating way (rather than a hyponotic, dreamy way) and read the statements of the ruling elite, who have made sport of pushing our buttons.

Black & Mexican conflict in Pasadena grows

With recent media coverage of the 1999 murders of two black residents in Highland Park, other cities in Los Angeles County are starting to address conflict between Blacks and Mexicans such as the city of Pasadena.

Jefferson High School has been witnessing racial tensions for several years now with no end in site. Although the violence between Blacks and Mexicans does not represent a significant amount of the total violence in Los Angeles, it appears to be growing incrementally for the past several years now.

Three Hispanics killed on Central Ave in response to “Ity Bity’s” killing.

My biology lab partners are white, I don’t feel comfortable around them.
They don’t seem friendly and they dont talk to me. what should I do?

Some people are just more unsocial than others. It might just be that they do not know you so they don’t say much. When I was in college, I had many lab partners (white, black, Asian, etc.) that just stuck to their studies and talked about nothing else. Unless it is clearly evident (ex. if they make a mean remark), I wouldn’t take it personal. Try to strike up a conversation and break the ice.

BROWN IS NOT BLACK, BROWN IS MULTIRACIAL

Lula’s government wants finish Multiracials off.
The Brazilian Multiracial Movement (Mestizo Nation) was in the General Committee convened by the Chamber of Deputies, in Brasilia, to discuss the Statute of Racial Equality, where the Multiracial representative criticized the project, denounces discrimination against Multiracials by the Brazilian government and droppist groups and the racial conflict between Blacks and Multiracials.
MR. LEÃO ALVES – I am very happy to be in this event, because there are treated much about the Black (preto) people and Brown people, but the Browns usually are not called to give their opinion about the issue. Usually, people decide by Browns. This is very interesting.
There are 3 points in the Statute of Racial Equality directly related to this issue. The Statute classifies all Brown as Black or Afro-descendant. Now, we know that at least in the Amazon region, which is not small – more than half the national territory – in the Amazon region, to be a Brown means, first of all, be a Multiracial “Caboclo”, whose identity is not based on African origin. Their identity is based on the encounter of the Native Indigenous identity and the identity of the peoples of Europe.
This politics, by signal, has caused profound damage to the work that has been done to combat racism and discrimination against the Multiracial “Caboclos” population in the Amazon.
The Statute also goes against the Declaration of Durban, which, in General Matters, item 56, talks about the Multiracial people, born of the meeting of various ethnicities. And talks about something that is ocurring: The main way to deny these people, something that has occurred, that is to say they do not exist: “There is not Multiracial. There is not Brown.”
There is a propaganda to prevent a person say that is a Brown. They say “brown” (pardo) comes from “sparrow” (pardal), but the word comes from the Latin “pardus”, which means leopard. It is the deconstruction of identity, so that the person does not take as Multiracial or Brown.
A third point is the increasing of something that is already occurring in the Amazon. There is already ocurring a racial conflict between Blacks (negros) and Multiracial “Caboclos”. The racial war will not be provoked by the Statute, no. It has begun.
Recently – by signal, this is already in the official site of the government, of the CONSEA – was drafted a letter in the Meeting of the Black and Communities of Terreiros of Roraima, that call for finish the law establishing the Mixed Race Day, adopted in the States of Amazonas and Roraima [https://www.planalto.gov.br/Consea/static/documentos/Outros/Carta_Roraima.pdf]. To protect us from this policy of destruction our identity, we had to create a legislation. The Multiracial Movement in Amazonas, Roraima and Paraiba States has conquest laws that create the Mixed Race Day.
Because it is need that people learn to respect the way other people identify theirselves. In the Amazon, this conflict occurs mainly in relation to “Caboclo” population. In the Amazon, it is good accent it, slavery was mainly of Indigenous and “Caboclo” populations. And more: the Indigenous slavery, in a sense, was far more violent than the slavery undertaken against Blacks. Why? Because the Indigenous was a national slave and African slave was a imported slave. If an Indigenous was killed, it was enough replace it with another. But the African, no, he costed dearly, because it was need to pay tax, rate.
Violence against Indigenous populations and “Caboclo” slaves in the Amazon was terrible, and this policy that classifies Brown as Black virtually transforms the Amazonian “Caboclos” in Blacks, which has no historical connection with the their cultural formation. This is a kind of statistic ethnocide. If I am not mistaken, in the site of the SEPPIR, in statistics on the Black population of the Amazon, they add up Black and Brown. But Brown and “Caboclos” do not exist only in the Amazon. From the coastline, in the direction of the border, the Multiracial population will increasingly assuming the characteristics of the descendants of Indigenous.
It’s good accent it, in relation to identify Brown only as descendent of African, that in Amazon there is conflict between Mulattoes and Blacks now. A Mulatto girl was attacked by assuming be a Mulatto girl. The Mulattos are also suffering this process. They hear that “Mulatto” comes from “mule”. But we know that the word comes from Latin “mulus”, which means hybrid, or comes from the Arabic word “muwallad”, which means Multiracial.
I am a Mulatto. This is my identity, and I demand respect for my choice.
